You touched me ...

1st May 2011

Markuskirche Hannover

A meeting of tango and a church service

At first this seems perhaps a bit strange - certainly unusual. Dancing couples in the church, texts about longing, suffering and desire. A second look uncovers the points of contact. It is about following and leading, being close and far, companionship and comfort. It is in this way that both worlds can come together and strike a chord with each other.

Let yourself be touched, by the music, by dance, the texts and the silence...This is followed by an opportunity to chat over a glass of red wine and a small bite to eat. Whoever wishes to may also dance a bit of tango or dare to take those first few steps.

Festival contribution from Sandra Deike and Manfred Büsing (liturgical organisation) with musical accompaniment from Tatjana Bulava on the bayan (accordion) as well as other dance couples with colleagues from the Markus parish.

TANGO IMPULS presents tango in all its cultural forms

In addition to the night time tango experiences there will also be first class concerts, art exhibitions, recent Argentinian literature, film highlights and more. In numerous workshops for absolute beginners to experienced members of the public and master classes for (prospective) professionals, participants can rise to their musical or dancing challenge or fine tune their work. TANGO IMPULS is offering tuition with the world stars of tango over the final three days of the festival. The Tango Café invites you to dance in a relaxed atmosphere on the two final afternoons of the festival, where the artists will also be special guests.
